Foreword
Article Outline
Readers who are looking for the latest information on pediatric renal dialysis and renal transplantation will be disappointed in this issue. Dr. Omoloja and his talented writing team of pediatric nephrologists (and a fellowship trained pediatric radiologist) have chosen this issue to focus on the common childhood renal problems often seen in primary care ambulatory settings. This issue not only contains a text full of the wisdom and experience of master clinicians, it is also loaded with helpful tables such as the symptoms of UTIs at various ages, an algorithm for asymptomatic proteinuria, common causes of hematuria and the list goes on (and on…).
In the last section of the issue Dr. Beth Ey, pediatric radiologist, carefully explains the pros and cons as well as the indications for a number of imaging techniques that will assist the clinician who deals with the diagnosis and management of children’s renal disease from the parenchyma to the urethra. In short, this issue was carefully crafted by its authors to be a convenient daily reference for the busy child health clinician in her/his primary care office who will inevitably care for many children with possible renal problems each week.
